In 2022, the coronavirus pandemic has turned Los Angeles into a police state. To escape the grim reality, a group of friends get together for an online party, but after collectively taking what they think is the recreational drug Molly, things go terribly wrong.
The movie, directed by Will Wernick, created a unique set of challenges due to the pandemic.
“Making Safer at Home was challenging. Not just because of the technical hurdles the pandemic mandated, but also the strange new features life had taken on in those early months of the pandemic. I noticed people making major, sometimes life changing decisions, quickly: brake-ups, pregnancies, divorces, fights. Almost everyone I knew was caught in an indefinite cycle of Groundhog Day. And then we started working on this film.”
Safer At Home stars Alisa Allapach, Adwin Brown and Katie L. Hall.
